Vision and Mission
Vision
The Islamic Center of Western Pennsylvania is guided by the principles of Islam, with a vision to cultivate a strong and united Muslim community in the North Hills Pittsburgh Area. We are dedicated to providing Islamic nourishment, educational opportunities, and support to men, women, and children in our community. Our aim is to empower individuals to lead lives in accordance with the Islamic teachings according to the Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), fostering unity, peace, and service. We aim to nurture strong families and individuals who exemplify the teachings of Islam, leading to a harmonious society and leaving a legacy of peace and enrichment for generations to come.
Mission
Our mission is to create an Islamic hub that offers a variety of weekly activities tailored to the unique needs of men, women, and children in our astonishing community. These programs engage our community members in leadership roles, enabling them to benefit from comprehensive Islamic education while fostering a supportive and empowering environment. Our programs include Quran Halaqas, Dars in Tafseer, Aqida, Fiqh, Arabic, and Seerah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). We place a special emphasis on empowering the Muslim women in our community through specially designed programs to nurture their Islamic character, drawing inspiration from the exemplary lives of the Prophet’s female companions (Sahabyyat), while being relevant to modern lifestyles. Additionally, we offer counseling sessions that support both men and women in building stronger and more harmonious families. We also have a strong focus on the children of our community, providing specialized programs like Sunday Islamic School and the Hafiz Program. These initiatives are tailored to help our young learners become proficient in accurate Quranic recitation, memorization, proper pronunciation (Tajweed), and a deep understanding of the Quran's meanings.
